CWSA Annual Exhibition 2011

Our Annual Exhibition was held at Gallery 2, Solihull Gallery, Solihull Central Library & Arts Complex, Homer Road, Solihull, B91 3RG. The exhibition was opened by the Mayor of Solihull, Councillor Ian Courts. This will be followed by the Society’s prize giving ceremony for outstanding artwork.

The Silver Salver was presented to Cynthia Chandler for her superb oil painting ‘Amboseli Reserve’. The Ralph Brassett trophy was awarded to Jacqui Smithson for her more quirky ‘Pots and Grasses’ Acrylic on paper. This year it was decided to present an extra prize for best newcomer. This was awarded to Shubda Athavale for her delicate watercolour entitled ‘The Bride’.

There were over one hundred votes for visitor’s favourite painting and the winner was Uthaya Swoboda for her painting ‘Winter Sunset over House in Wales’. A very close second was Paul Chokran for his mixed media painting ‘When no one is looking’.
